Step 3 remove window panes. Set it and the screen panel in a safe place out of the wind. Begin the project by folding open the box and removing the glass storm panel. This is not an instructional video. The splines are pieces of narrow rubber tubing that keep the screen secure around the door frame. Slide it into the door channel in front of the screen.

Use an awl or your screwdriver to pry up the spline at the corner of the frame. Use a nut driver or a screwdriver if needed and unscrew the window that is currently on the storm door. If you chose to install a new window the process is very straightforward. It should not go in between the screen and the door frame.

Insert the retainer strips in place. Screw the bolts back into the door and you are finished. Use this measurement to mark the appropriate point on the hinge side z bar with a pencil then use your hacksaw to cut. Get installation instructions for your storm door including preparing the rough opening sealing shimming fastening flashing and water management.

Remove the glass and place the screen in the door opening. Install the handle set and associated hardware of the new door lock. Working your way down the door slide and snap the retainer into the track until the markings are no longer visible applying pressure as you go. Complete the installation by installing the door closer.

Replace it with the new one that has the screen insert already installed. Start at the top of the door and hold the retainer at about a 45 degree angle with the edge with writing on it facing you. It is intended to give you a good idea of the steps involved when installing an emoc storm and screen door. There is a separate piece of spline for each side of the screen.

Position the sweep so its weather stripping touches the sill and screw into place.
